If its been sitting a while then the carb might be a little dirty. Try cleaning it or spraying some carb cleaner. Does it run with throttle? If so then you might need a richer pilot jet.

That's very weird if it is fuel injected. I have never had idle/transition problems with an efi vehicle. I do not know if can am does this but Polaris has a sensor in the throttle mechanism by the throttle lever box to prevent a stuck throttle. This could be making contact and causing the atv to shut off, but I don't know if can am has this mechanism. It has happened to me before with a Polaris atv(carbureted).
