Default Ds650 clutch cover install please help

Hi all I'm new here I hope someone can help I picked up an 02 bombardier ds650 not running it turned out it was only the battery so I got it running but it was smoking like crazy from the exhaust so I rebuilt the top end new piston and rings new valves a seals all new gaskets. What I didn't do was put a bolt in to hold the timing but that's fixed now but the problem I'm having which I'm sure is something really simple is putting the left side clutch come on the bike where the cable hooks into, everytime I go to put it on its almost like the thing is spinning to much I'm sorry I don't know the name of it the piece you hook the clutch cable to seems to be spinning as I put the cover on and that makes the clutch not moves forward anymore like if I pull in the clutch lever and it won't spring back so I know I'm putting it on wrong can someone please help? That's the last thing I gotta do then put all the fluids in to start it thank you very much

So I got the cover on BUT now I have another issue I got the bike all together and put the fluids in and went to start it but it was just turning over and not starting I had to keep hitting the throttle then it finally start but it started to smoke from the tailpipe again an when I put my hand over the tailpipe my hand was soaked with oil I mean a lot of oil so I shut the bike off. In my first post I said I changed the piston that was wrong I only changed the rings, valve seals and the top end gaskets. If the timing was off with that make it happen? When I set the timing I couldn't find the timing marks anywhere on the motor so I got TDC by making sure the piston was all the way up then set the top sprockets with the lobs facing out and the lines on them set right meaning along the top head can someone please help me? I'm gonna check to make sure I didn't over fill the oil but would a carb adjustment also be the problem? I also checking the compression again what should it be at?
