Default 01 bomedier not starting

Good morning,

I am working on my uncle's 2001 bomedier traxter st 500. The starter just spins. I put a new starter in and it just does the same thing. I am guessing it is maybe a sprag clutch or something. I am not familiar with these wheelers.

thank you for ur help

Several different versions of the Traxter 500 but all seem to show a stater gear and idle gear. Teeth may be chewed up causing starter to spin. https://www.canampartshouse.com/oemp...ectric-starter

When I had the starter out i could feel the gear that the starter spins and that one felt good. Is there any videos to watch on how to work on this problem? Could it be a sprag problem?

it is a XT

Same thing on the XT shows a double starter gear and main gear. Teeth may be good where the starter engages, but the smaller gear could be sheared where it hits the flywheel gear. Doesn't show to have a one way sprag clutch.
