Default 07 Outlander 500 "invalid key"

So I bought a 07 outlander 500, it had just been to a dealer where they replaced the ignition key switch (dealer has record of it ) and according to them they programmed the key and all, it still says invalid key and therefore it doesn't start lol does anyone have any ideas where I should look for any issues or what the problem might be?

It sounds like it hasn't been coded correctly. Were they able to start it up when you picked it up? Do you have more than one key? I would take it back to the same dealer after taking a picture of the message on the speedometer cluster. I would also buy an extra key. It's easy to lose one and get stranded. One way or the other the dealership should fix the problem since they replaced the ignition.

Yeah so it was doing this to the previous owner so he took it in and had it replaced. I bought it from him like it sits. It didn't work when he picked it up I guess... so they're going to try and re code the key again for me... if not I guess I may have a short in a wire somewhere... I wish I had a wiring schematic or and knew the corresponding wires from the plug back so I can follow them into the harness
