110 Renegade Starter Replacement
#1
Folks, I'm looking for a little info on the 110 Renegade ATV. I volunteered to help out a friend who's kid has one of these with a starter out on it by swapping in the new starter for them. I'm a retired aircraft mechanic who moonlighted as an auto mechanic for thirty years, so if it has wings or wheels I've pretty much wrenched on it, to include most makes of ATVs and motorcycles; until now.
I looked this little rig up and I assumed it was something along the lines of the 110cc Honda clones out there, but I see it's not and I've never laid my eyes on one yet and won't until it comes to my shop next weekend. Just glancing at pics of the ATV, I assume the starter on this one is simply held in with 2 or 3 mounting bolts that thread directly into the engine case and are not hidden behind a CVT housing like on the big Can-Ams? I have factory service manuals for the Bigger ATVs, but like I said, this will be a first time on a 110cc Can-Am. Just want to make sure I don't need any special tools or have any surprises coming my way. Thanks in advance....
