It's in Idaho...above Idaho falls just out side of Rexburg.
And it is also my favorite dunes we'll be there around July 5th or 6th for a few days before heading on into Montana

these are all opinions of course, except GLAMIS, once youve been youll know... id describe it as NOT sand dunes........... more like a SAND MOUNTAIN RANGE
This does not describe Glamis at all. Glamis is wide open and has lots of dunes. The gathering of people and fast things is what makes Glamis, not the size of the individual dunes.
I perfer the sharp steep dunes..
This quote says to me St Anthonys Idaho.

Also, Pismo doesn't even have an ant hill. The smallest Dunes I've ever seen, but, the 5 or more miles of bech front camping is way cool and the weather is the best in the summer time. The flat gradual uphill drag area is good also.

1. St Anthonys, Idaho.
2. Dumont, Ca
3. Little Shara, Utah
4. Glamis, Ca
5. Pismo, Ca

I can only comment on where I've been. Oregon dunes are definatly on my to do list some time, Coral Pink, Utah also.. And for non dunes the mountain trail riding in Utah, I forget the name, it's above Richfield I believe. Thats on my to do list also. Glamis, definatly has the fastest "Things" locked up. I'm talking the amount of and all in one place. I know there are fast things all over the country.

I prefer the south end of the Imperial sand dunes myself, much more than Glamis. The big dunes at the south end of Buttercup [actually in Mexico] have the best transitions of any of the places I have been to. It's as effortless as riding a rollercoaster, pure gas on. I like to camp at Ogilby ride through the small dunes then over to Gordon's Well and to Patton Valley. Although it is not as easy to read the dunes there, as it is over at Buttercup, it is my favorite one way ride ending with a few "Sand Sodas" over at Buggy Flats and the drags. Regardless, if you are wanting to dune and don't want to be around the maniacs, Buttercup, Ogilby or Gordon's Well is the ticket. BUT IF YOU ONLY HAD ONE CHANCE TO GO TO ANY OF THE DUNES, IT'S GLAMIS ON THANKSGIVING HANDS DOWN. Anywhere else is comparing Pop Warner to the Superbowl.

GLAMIS GLAMIS GLAMIS!!! Although I've never visited St. Anthony's. Sounds awesome but it would be one hell of a long drive for me.

Takes us about 17 18 hours drive time that includes stops for gas and food. I don't know where Vista is, this is from the Inland Empire area of southern California. Sat/Sun drive, spend Monday-Friday at St Anthonys, then Sat/Sun drive home. It will be a very worth while weeks vacation, imo. The drags/crowds/partys of glamis you won't find. but, you will find some of the steepest big dunes anywhere. Jumps, big hill climbs and big bowls to circle around is what you'll find at St Anthonys.

I ride LSUtah every other weekend and it is really nice, but can get nasty windy, dusty, and hotternhell in June to August.
I only have one thing to add about St. A. I was up there two weekends ago and it was 35 mph constant wind with 50mph gusts. SUCKED WAY BAD. But, the trip and riding was still great.
I was there that weekend and it was windy. It very rarely is that windy though.Heading back next weekend.Cant wait.

Vista is located about 25 miles north of San Diego. Only about an hour or so from inland empire area, I might have to try it if it's only 18 hrs. I thought it would be farther.
