Default Please explain "subframe"

Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is the subframe?

I hit a tree and the front part of my frame is bent so that the front wheels do not even up when looking at side view.
Is this fixable??? How much for a new frame for 02' BAJA????
Thanks.

the subframe is the bolt on frame that the seat and rear plastic is mounted on.

the main frame stops just behind the motor fromthere back is the subframe you should be able to see where they bolt together (I believe the ds has a removable subframe but not sure)
