Default DS won't start in gear??

My DS will not start unless it's in neutral...Clutch fully pulled in. You just press the start button and nothing happens.

Is this normal?? Cuz i thought they were supposed to start in any gear...

Thanks

I don't think it's slipping. But maybe it is and I don't know it.

Anyone else got suggestions??

I'm not standing next to my DS, but I think there is a clutch switch on the handlebar. Check the wires to the switch and make sure they are pluged in. If so then check continuity of the switch, if is ok then you have a broken wire somewhere.

I hope this helps!

Hrm...Where exactly is that switch located??

I see wires (covered in rubber boot) coming out of the start/headlight/kill switch assembly?? Is it in there??

Those are the only wires on the clutch side of the handle-bar that I can see??

Yea Bro, mine does say magura on it also.
Make sure you rock it back and fourth while the clutch is in to make sure it is completley free....Thats a curious glitch....
Good luck, keep us posted....

If you follow the clutch lever inboard to the clutch lever pivot.....Well, between the pivot and the handlebars is a 1/2" - 5/8" round rubber grommet with two wires covered in blackshrink tubing...

There it is, I think...

Take off the clutch lever and check to see if there is FOD in the switch assy. Clean it, check the connections and if it still dosn't work, follow the wires down to the plug under the cowl and do a continuity check....

I hope this fixes the problem for you....

there is a switch on the clutch perch, with wires seperate from those that go into the light/kill/start assembly. the purpose of this switch is to make sure the clutch is in if you're not in neutral, or else it won't let you start the bike. its prolly either this switch, or the wiring for it, as hinglby mentioned.
