your carb has a butterfly that is durect mounted to the cable . that gives you your true throttle the slide is there as a sort of backup throttle plate to smooth the transition(the stumble that the 45 has w/o the acc. pump). I had my slide sticking at half throttle last year on the ice , but since the butterfly is there you can let off the gas and the engine will come back down to idle.

 

I understand what you are saying. I guess what was trying to stress to make sure that you leave enough to have spring pressure. you are right

I think your talking about the throttle spring, I'm talking about the vacume slide spring.

 

I should get a big gain if I take off the lid and snorkels right? I am using a TM45 that seems to want to stay rich...

I currently only have K&N in the box without the Outerware..but I'm going to order the outerware in a few days.

Should this make a difference??
