Please think....before you run.

Just wanted to let you all know about the bad new I received today. If you read the active forums, you would have seen a thread titled "cops". Would you run or stop? While you think of the answer, let me tell you about a buddy I <u>once</u> had. Last night he went for a ride out on the town, and got caught. When the cops began chasing him, he ran. While running, he drifted into the opposite lane and struck a Jeep head on. He hit so hard that the bike ended up in the engine compartment, and after it was done you could not even tell what kind of bike he was on. He died, and sunday I will have to say my last goodbye because he was one of those that decided not to stop. I admit, I have run in the past as well. But in my (getting) older age, I have learned that a measly 60 dollar ticket is not worth your life. Before you make the decision to run next time, PLEASE...think before you gas it. You might get away this time, but the next time....
In memory of JS.

Wow...i have no words. My condolences to the family and to you Pure.
I'm very sorry to hear such a thing. I'll think twice next time before running.
Your right, no stupid ticket is worth a human life.
My sympathies,
Jeff

i am very sorry to hear this....my heart goes out to family and friends, this is a serious reality check! i would hate to say this but the officer should have held back on the chase to save your friend from trying to go any faster, they do not chase at Dumont for the simple fact that it promotes the runner to increase to dangerous speeds and people have had tragic losses do to chases!!!God rest his soul...i wonder how the 'SUPER' cop feels, must not be too good, it wasnt like he robbed a bank, but we cannot dwell on that... sorry man

Sorry to hear about your buddy Kenny. I had a brother-in-law that decided not to stop to the cops sirens/lights while riding his motorcyle....he was 26 when he died.

You know, I guess one just does not stop to think about consequences before running. I know I never did, and felt stupid after I had gotten away. The adrenaline rush is so overcoming when the lights come on, that you just dont have the time to stop and think about it.
Annihillator, your absolute correct. I could not agree with you more. Sure the guy broke a law with being on the road with an atv, but lets get real about it. Was it such a crime that they had to run him down? No, i can safely say it wasnt. Sad part about it is when i got pulled, the cops really just wanted to tell me to take the bike home and get off of the roads. Probably all that would have happend to him for he was well known with the cops. But had the cop just let off and let him go, he more than likely would have slowed down.
My point, i guess, is that it dont matter if I know you or not. Dont run. I feel us atv'ers are kind of like a family. We all share a common interest and most of us do it well and respectively. When i hear on the news that another member of our family bites the dust, it makes me feel a bit sad. I view alot of you all as family in a way. Think about it. When i need help i ask you all, and usually get the help i need. We should just think about how many people do care. Whether or not we know each other.
Peace,
Kenny

Annihilalater How can you turn this around and blame this trajedy on the police? You are the same type of person that blames McDonalds for people getting fat! Obviously we don't have all of the facts. Did the police start to give chase then back off? How far into the "chase" did this young man crash? Was he riding an Atv or a motercross bike or a steet bike? The paragraph said the bike ended up in the engine compartment. And what about the people in the Jeep that JS hit! He could have killed them if he already didn't. It was JS direct actions that led to his unfortunate death and the possible death of the people in the jeep. Was there alchohol involved? And for calling the policeman "supercop", The man/woman was just their job and will have to live the rest of their lives with this horrible accident in their minds. Please people just stop, if not for your life then for other peoples safety!
