Jeff, You have plenty of motor, I'd work on the launch. I've been through the same problem - too much power & hook for the launch lets lower power bikes jump ahead at the launch. They don't continuously pull away the whole race, they just gain their 1 to 3 bike length advantage off the line and either hold it or the lead decreases by the end of the race. This is a problem when racing lighter fast reving bikes such as banshees. When I went to the +8" swingarm and launched more aggressively, I could run with or beat some of the guys who would jump a few bike lengths on me off the line when I had the +4" swingarm. Look at gearing, tires, swingarm.

Why can't you take off in 2nd gear with 22" tires, 17/40 gearing or 16/38 gearing? I would think with enough RPMs you could do it. Did you change to a bigger cam for more topend? An 830 should have massive torque to launch with.

Scooby,
I was launching in 2nd(on NOS) with 16/40 gearing..
I thought about going to a 39 rear,but didn't feel like changing the rear(lazy I guess)
Could have changed the front to a 17, I think that would make a 2nd gear launch pretty tough though

I still have the big cams(RW race 7's) & 14:1 piston still sitting on my desk but probably not for long.

ThePunisher,
Sorry about the first jump in the rail...hehehehe it took me by surprise too

Jeff
