Its not just the gearing. The Firebird is fuel injected, has much more efficient(i said EFFICIENT, not better flowing) heads, intake(tuned port) AND is running a 6 spd manual. The auto your running looses more hp from input of tranny to tailshaft. Your prolly running a stall(3000-3500???) which saps more hp when putting around. The 6spd has closer spaced gears which loads the engine less AND it has an OVERDRIVE.
'Kamino's are super cool though! ESPECIALLY those w/ 450hp!!!

It also gets 19mpg/city and 26/mpg on the highway. ITs my street car! I drive a ford truck also but I breath Chevy Horsepower.

over the years i have run/raced alot of differnet sized roots type blowers 187-250-871's ect. but this year i went to the procharger system with the inter-cooler and WOW!!! this things makes power!!! 1250hp @ the motor 969hp @ the tire. the key is to cool down the air charge going into the motor, by cooling down the air this lets you run higher boost levels and more timing with out detonation. my last roots blower was a stage II BDS 871 with teflon striping for extra seal. the most usable boost this thing made was about 10psi, and now with the same motor i can run 25psi with 28deg of timing with the prochager. going back to the chassis dyno this week and hope to run more timing and tweek this 572 up to 1500 @ the motor!!!!! www.prochager.com

With that kind of horpower a firbird on slicks and 3.73 gears could turn low 10's easy. My grand national with a runs high 8's on a small tire. How about 29X10.5 for ya. and is street legal and see street duty.
