Default 330hp crate motor

I just bought a 330 hp crate motor this week. I'm going to put the whipple charger on it and a 454 throttle body bored out. This project is getting out of hand. The intake plate for the 454 throttle body was 190 bucks. I hope with the proper programing she will still run on pump gas. Calling all lightins.

What kind of motor? 454 Chevy motor? My Dad and I are into Chevys BIG TIME!! My Dad has two Chevy Elcamino's: One in PERFECT shape but all stock with Kregar wheels.... the other in really bad shape (body) But we hand built a 450 horse 350 motor bored to a 355, Tunnel Ram with Dual carbs sticking about a foot out the hood LOL!! two holly 450cfm carbs, Denser Ohio race Pistons, 272 lift cam (going to get a 292 roller cam), roller lifters, AND WAY TOO MUCH MORE TO LIST!!! lol, It's pretty crazy..... You can be going 60MPH just cruising down the road, down shift and floor it and lights 'em up and gets a bit squirrly!!

Sounds like the ZZ-3 crate motor from chevy. I run a 97 Ws-6 firebird. 601rwhp on the button. This was dynoed at Motorsports Technologies in Houston, Tx. 10.89@153 at Houston Raceway park. It also gets 19mpg/city and 26/mpg on the highway. ITs my street car! I drive a ford truck also but I breath Chevy Horsepower.

VERY COOL bigdsrider!!! How in the hell do you get that kind of gas milage with 601 horse? My Dad's ElCamino gets about 4MPG and it's about 450 horse...... I don't get it LOL!!

Remember its an Lt-1 with a Six speed manual transmission. Gearing is not that radical. 3.73 gear ratio. Its not always that much horsepower. Thats on the button. Thats with me staying out of the throttle aswell. Gas milage goes out the window if I mash the throttle.

I'm looking at those whipple chargers too. I need to get one used though, $3500 is what they want for the one I need.

The new crate motors are the way to go. I love the idea of an old classic with a fuel injected motor with a/c & 17 or 18 inch wheels really look good on an old muscle car.
