Default questions about little sahara

I was just checking out the web sites for the Little Sahara in Oklahoma. I was hoping they had some tall dunes to tackle. The site I looked at said the dunes range in height from 25 - 75 foot. This is not large at all. Although, I did read on and saw that they have hills called buttercup and competition hill. Are these larger than the rest, or are these the 75 foot hills? The club I belong to may be taking a trip out there this sept or october. But I really want to make sure it is worth the 15 hour drive!!! Im just 5 hours from Silver lake, but that is not quite as large as LS. So tell me everyone, would you make the trip if it was 15 hours???? Are there any larger hills than 75'?

Thanks for the info,

DStroyer

Default questions about little sahara

It took us 16 hours to get there Easter weekend, and I would go back at the drop of a hat, but we have plans for Glamis for Thanksgiving. Buttercup is the tallest hill there, didn't hear of competition hill, don't know. I would say what it lacks in big hills, it makes up in jumps, and pretty cool trails around outside edge.

I haven't been to Silver Lake but my friends have been to both, and they say there is no comparison. LS doesn't have db checks or curfews, just have to have flag, and MAKE SURE you bring extra tail light bulbs for night riding. Riding double is allowed and helmet optional, too.

I don't think you would regret the trip, we sure didn't!!

Nope, thats about as tall as they grow around here. The "big" dunes looks like a a large set of WAVES. 75-100 ft tall, and about 1/4 mile long with the north face very steep. one right after the other. Most of the fun will be had in the tree's and trials. You can go all week and find new trails to runn through. The good thing about LS is that it is nearly impossible to get lost in. Thier is a cable fence around the entire dunes so if one of your group gets seperated you can always meet back up at the Drag strip(which is right in front of the main gate).

If you looking for HUGE dues then LS is not what you want, but if you are looking to do some trails ,dunes, and drags with a camp ground that has everything you could ask for, then LS will not dissapiont you.

Is it worth 15hours?? Thats up to you, but I have talked to several people that come even further, and they come back year after year.

If yall do decide to come down let us know .

Bigger.

I drove 15 hrs from WI last fall for snake hunt and it was a BLAST!!!! I have never been in sand before so it was extra fun for me.. I want to go back but it is a long drive.. I did not have too much fun in the dunes but the sand trails were wicked fun.. I did not get lost in the park but I got messed up on the trails, they just wind forever!!
