Default Chain wax or Chain lube??

My Ds came from the dealer (TVI) with a heavy wax on the chain, not a spray on type. Not sure what it was but it stayed on and didn't make a mess. Now that is gone and I wanted to go back with a wax type lube. I bought some Maxima Chain Wax (spray on type stuff). It's a paraffin based wax that sets up in about 20min. I just put it on, I'll let you know how it goes. I do have the factory O-ring chain, I don't think that you are suposed to use petrolium based lubes on them. Oil and rubber does not get along very well, that's why they say don't put vasoline on your condom

I can tell you how it will go, you'll come back with more sand on your chain than lube.

That's a BIG NO NO!!! It will eat your rubber o-rings on the chain causing you to swear a considerably large amount when you see how much a new 530 chain costs!!!

Have used it on my dirtbikes and quads for years now but ironrod is correct if I was in sand all the time I would use nothing.

Are you 100% sure?!?!?

Gatdam many people have told me it was safe....

I rinsed it off with water right after...I know that probably wont help much...

Just take an o-ring and throw it in some kerosene and check it out the next day, it will swell up to 4-5 times it's original size. After removing it from the solvent it will dry out and start to break apart. Now the stuff is only on your chain for a few minutes so it's not really a good comparison but it's not good for it. If you just want something to spray on and keep the rust down use a silicone based lube. If you want to use something to wash your chain I use dish washing detergent, Dawn works really good

I've always used chain wax. It does not throw any crap like PJ1.
