Default what oil do you use in your DS???

im getting my DS tomorrow, and im going to change the oil after the first 2 hours (to get any metal flakes out)

what oil do you guys use/reccomend?

i think most use castrol gtx 10w-40?

do you guys run the same weight all year round? or switch higher/lower weight in different seasons? (if so what do you run in each season?)

Use GTX if your gonna change it really often (2-4 rides, depending on length). I use Suzuki Mineral-based API-certified Motorcycle oil 10w40...Since thats what my Suzuki/Bombardier dealer uses in the Suzuki Sport Bikes and the Bomb quads...

No problems...Love it. AND ITS CHEAP!

Use the castrol to break it in.... After that switch to Valvoline motorcycle oil or Honda HP4. You can stick with the Castrol too but I believe the Valvoline Motorcycle oil and Honda HP4 oil is the best made...... Especially after your roast you clutch a time or two or three in my case You will want the best oil for the clutch and motor....

Its not in a DS, but I use new Maxima Thumper oil in my Raptor. Do you guys think Yamalube is better?

If so, why?

Tyrespinner,

It don't have to be expensive to be good...... Why do you think I used Valvoline Motorcycle oil.... It's really good and it don't cost much. It's much better than what people think.

The ones I have listed have be proven for quality for many years....I haven't heard much of Valvoline except from you. Could be just as good...dunno

Use an oil that meets the API spec in your owners manual.

I use 10W40 Valvoline ATV oil. Special made for ATV's.

Valvoline says: "Wet Clutch Protection - Optimal frictional characteristics for high torque, smooth shifting and proper protection of the wet clutch.
Meets or exceeds manufacturer's warranty requirements. Will not void warranties. "

I'm new at ATV's but been running cars, trucks, boats and tractors all my life... never had a problem caused by poor or improper oil.
