I dunno...doesn't a faster revving engine create more vaccuum?

What air filters are you running. If K&N, are you running the pre-filter?

The outerwear is needed. You will have problems with the carb, like the ones you mentioned, if you don't run the outerwear. It's an ESSENTIAL part of the filtering process.

Ok, I don't understand though...Could you explain why it would make such a difference??
And how much do these outerwears go for?? They were asking 23$ USD for 1 K&N outerwear...that seems expensive for just that...

Thanks

Jeff

Finer particles are filtered out by the pre-filter. Without the pre-filter, expect float bowl problems. Those finer particles cause problems when they get inside your carb. Make sure you maintain your air-filters well, keep them clean and oiled and in good condition. Make sure you use a pre-filter and also make sure it is not damaged; no holes.

not to detract from the conversation, but I thought WOT created a low vacumn situation. This would make the engine more susceptible to exhibiting sympthoms of clogging or low fuel flow rates.
Yes and no. Hows that for an answer
Vacuum is higher at low rpm due to the restriction created by the carb slide or butterfly. At WOT the vacuum is created by the draw effect of high velocity flow crossing the jet tube at a 90 degree angle. Tham same way smoke is drawn from a chimney when there is a breeze.

PS. Ironrod is right about the need for an outerwear but I don't want you to get confused on your symptom that started this post. Dirt particles entering from the air filter won't cause your float to stick, it causes plenty of problems just not that one.
