Went back to stock CDI from RWR...to test..
Well, I don't have a Tach, so I wanted to see how high I can rev my DS safely... So I took off my RWR cdi and put the stocker in. It started on the first crank without choke (which is rare with the RWR.., but maybe just coincidence).
Well I found out that 7700 RPM is quite higher than I thought it was...judging from the sound of my insanely loud pipe...I think that I'm revving way higher than I really am...
I could hit the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd easy....In 3rd it was sligthly harder and in 4th it was possible.....but I couldn't in 5th.
This is with 16/40 and 22"s...
Just thought I'd let you guys without tachs and loud pipes that I can rev higher than you think. Atleast than I did.

Tyrespinner,
Did you just run out of room to hit the limiter in 5th? I see that you got stock gearing but 22's instead of 20's, just seems with your stage one you would be able to hit it. I can hit mine and it doesnt take all that long but yah i got 20's. (stock gearing and weigh 160 lbs) I just didnt realize 22's would make such a difference, but i guess it does. I just remembered that mine kicks in at 7900 too.

I weigh the same as you....and yes 22"s make a huge difference...
With the 20 inch tires and stock gearing...at 7700 RPM your speed is 75.6 mph...With 22 inch tires...your speed would be 83 mph... There is quite a difference....
Well I didn't run out of room...but I just let it go after like 10-15 seconds at WOT....I could have probably hit it in 5th if I had kept it pinned...
Is this normal for a Stage 1 DS?

I have a RWR 14 front coming my way via USPS...thanks to Birdoprey
I did the test to see how hard it would be to over-rev with the gearing I have now...and it's pretty hard....but with the 14/40...i think i'll have to be more careful

I rode mine today with the 15/40/22 and first thing tomorrow I am putting that 14 back on!!!! those 22 tires really suck up power even with my new mods.. I still hit 8000 that would bounce the stock CDI.. Plus my @$$ is not the lightest.. I ring in at 260. So, I bet if you light weight Canadian were to get on my setup you would just RIP.... 7lbs = 1 hp. do the math I bet you could easy hit 90+ on my quad Jeff...
