Default new turbo project for me!

i used to run aerocharger, but switched to garrett to run high boost reliably.

i now run an off-the-shelf GT15 (not ball bearing), .35 A/R turbine housing with 41mm wheel, .48 A/R compressor housing with 45mm wheel.

Were you running the aerocharger or Garrett @ FSWII?

aerocharger @ FSWII (with ceramic ball bearings going bad and clutch smoked)

the GT15 spools pretty fast when loaded. not quite like a ceramic ball bearing variable geometry turbo, but is adequate. the GT15 doesn't like if you load the motor at low RPM - it can bog and take a while to build boost. i rev to 7500RPM to launch and don't have a problem with spooling. i run a weak stock motor (8:1). i have removed the intercooler and large chrome pipes, reduced the size of the plenum, to reduce unnecessary volume for faster spooling.

What else have you done to the engine, ie. headwork, cams, rod, etc... Or is it actually completely stock.

Man, I wish I had the time and $$ for a turbo project. I think it's the way to go. I'm glad more people are trying it. I might have to go to FSW just to see how it turns out.
