Is the "voltage regulator" called an amplifier ? I called the dealer today to get one, and they said it's not called a voltage regulator. Any input ? Also, is there any place else (or better) to get one other than the dealer ?

Trail Tech makes a Regulator Rectifier that is smaller and handles more watts than the piece of crap stock unit. You need to call them its not on the website.

Lots of outlander voltage regulators are failing. My hunting partner and I have 2 2003 outlanders. The voltage regulators failed within 3 hours of each other (500 miles of use). The dealer replaced each for free. It messed up our hunting trip though. I read lots of others are failing. Where is the King of Torts? There should be a recall. We hunters should be paid for our lost hunting pleasure since they know about this and do not recall.

KMS sells an aftermarket rectifier for the DS, it is lighter and smaller and some where between $30-40, I don't know what a dealer wants for one. Are you certain it's your regulator/rectifier that has failed? have you tested it? Might just be a bad battery.

Majore is correct about the kms regulator and any kohler or onan dealer sells 32 amp regulators that will fit on a ds and out work the stock unit!!!!!!! And they are rectifier regulators

recall RECALL Yes, I called the BRP number listed in the owner's manual and they said they did recall that part. A Voltage Regulator/Rectifier. I went through three batteries and asked a fellow Honda Rancher rider how many he had bought in the five years he had his bike. He went, what? The service tech said some even catch on fire so the replacement part the Dealer offers for $341.95 is mounted on the battery pack in the rear instead of under the top panel. All they had to do is write us a letter but nothing. The shop charged me $500 and almost $20 for the job. Mine is a 2003 Outlander 400 and was taken to an Athourized dealer the previous year but it was not tested under the yearly maintenance check?

AZSAND,

Still waiting for a part number, good advice, but when I ask the kohler dealer for a 32 amp, he can only reference by model number or part number.

If you can find the part number, it would be appreciated.
