My friend and I have each had voltage regulator failures 2 times now on our 2003 330 Outlanders. Each time they failed within 5 hours of each other. The last time we were still under warranty and the dealer got approval to install a kit that moves the VR to the back at no cost. The VR was getting too hot and failing. They moved the VR the next year to the back I think. My 2004 400 has never had a problem.

Wish it was summer so I could ride. -25 in Alaska today.

 

I'm really whooping mad about paying so much for a part. The reason the original part failed was it's close proximity to the radiator and the fan that blows hot air right on top of it. When you get it warmed up you can acually feel the heat blowing away from it. I'm convinced they knew about it and then changed the part location and number to claim after market sales for a whole new part. I guess I could live with the $516.30 price tag installed but I just wish the company could have given us a heads up to the problem rather than burying it alive. The service tech who changed mine said some of them caught on fire before they knew what happened. It sure made it run better.
