Fuel Injection for the DS!
#21
I am curious how it would do for off- roading and duning. It basically acts like a Snowmobile fuel pump so I would assume it would work well in any condition. I am also interested in this thing Kyle. Can you show us a picture of how it mounts and what it looks like on your quad? That would be awesome if you could do that for us, Thanks.

It mounts the exact way the 45mm mounts, it only takes seconds to swap the 2 out. I will try and get ahold of a digital camera so I can E-mail you guys some pics.

Thanks, Kyle, for sharing your insiders info...I was curious how well the single circuit operates at speeds other than WOT...Do you think if you were running gas you'd have temp issues? Thanks again...we ALL appreciate it! Damn...I'm homesick!

Thanks Jim,
and those are all good questions. I wont really know until I try it out. It works really well with alky, but we all know Alky is way more forgiving then gas. i'm a 100% sure I will never go back to gas, but I will do some testing in the near future with gas, an let you guys know how it goes.

how was the throttle response in the trails? do you think this would be ok for trail riding or is it mainly built for drag racing? how hard was it to tune for the main jet? dose it use say mikuni mainjet or does he make them also? how does it work with only one jet?

The throttle response was good, But with anything like this it is going to take alittle time to "fine" tune it. I really dont know yet how much potential this FI has. I could make a change and it may be amazing, or I may not be able to improve on it at all. When I get the time(this weekend) I will try several different things, and I will definatley let you guys know. I am currently waiting on a More expensive fuel pump, that should allow me to try several different fuel pressures. I think that will be as important as the size of jet.
as it stands now, if I dont improve on it at all, I will sell my 45mm and never look back. Not that this makes more HP than the 45mm, but I will never have to mess with the "carb" on my rig again. I was just tired of having stuck floats, and clogged pilots, etc....

I'm not the best with FI, but you said you will never have to touch it again... Does this mean that the FI automatically changes "jetting" for elevation and temperature changes? Excuse my dumb question but can you explain this better for me... thank you.

Well your right, I guess I should have said, I will not have to mess with it in my riding area. Here in oklahoma we dont have big elevation changes, so altittude never comes into play.
What I was really talking about is that this FI doesnt have a needle/float,pilotjet, needle settings, and that alone is a big relief for me.

Steve, I dont have a Dyno within 150m but I do plan on dynoing it Vs. my 45mm. But To be honest I would be surprised if it produced more HP. but being that it should be easier to get dialed in, may seem that way, and pick up acouple ponies!
