since its a ron woods its also not a rev limiter it doesn't have a shut down limit. I have a ron woods cdi and never had a problem with no limiter. I would pm Ironrod he would probably be able to steer you in the right direction for who to get a cdi from and it will save you money too. Weird but he always seems to know who has the same parts but less expensive.

If the valves float, the piston could run into them - that could cause problems. The key question here is ....

Are you able to stay away from the rev point at which the valves float?

If you are not, then you might consider a rev limiter of some kind - especially if the motor is built such that the float point is easy to find.

I contacted Alba with this question before and this is the info from their parts dept. email.

"We have three different options in rev limiters. You can go with the one from BMW that removes the rev limit completely. The one from Ron Woods adds another 1500 rpm. Or, you can go with ours that gives you another 1000 RPM. The on from BMW will work on any machine, but is not recommended due to it complicated installation process and high risk of motor damage. Ron Woods works on non-Baja DS650’s. Lastly, the Alba Performance CDI works on Baja’s and the new DS650’s. Let me know if you have any other questions.Ours is $199. Ron Wood’s is $299. BMW’s is $399. Let me know if you have any other questions."

Hehehe. Dude, that guy you talked to is all screwed up. I bet if you call again you'll get a different answer.

1) Ron Wood is REV FREE - NO REV LIMIT PERIOD.
2) I don't know anything about the BMW one but it sounds like he's confusing that with the Ron Wood Racing one

I have the BMW CDI. It was hell installing it, I had to move a pin on the connector.
