Default DS Hand Guards Removal

I got new handlebars and now i want to take the stock hand gaurds off and put them on the new ones. But im having a problem getting them off. The factory tightens down the bolt to 1000 lbs and they expect you to get it off with a tiny allen wrench?!?! And to make things worse the bolt is like butter. Reminds me of trying to get the damn screws off the carb. Anyone take theirs off, and were yours tight too, also got any tips. Im going riding tomorrow and like to get them off and make them fight on my new bars.

Thanks,
RoughRider01

I was actually talking about the whole peice. Yah i thought it would be simple to get off too, but it wasnt. ill just blame it on the cheap allen wrenches i bought. I stripped the the heck out of it so i just cut them off right above the grip. Im gonna have to do some fabricating to get them to fit anyways. The other part that holds the handguards, that bracket, is to small to fit with my fatbars. Ill live without them for a day.

Oh yah, just added some more pics to my page. So once they're verified or whatever, new ones will be on there.

I used tools. I don't remember it being that hard to do.
Do NOT use the tools in the tool kit. Get a good T-handle allen key set for the garage (Craftsman etc.)

I forgot all about t-handle allens.. that would of worked pretty good. All i had was a dinky three inch long allen wrench.

When I had my Baja, they came off easy. No problems with it at all. ??????
