I don't know if this has happened to anyone else but it took me a long time to figure it out. I filled the gas tank up and kept filling it so "I could go longer". After I forced as much as I possibly could into it I started it to let it warm up. It ran for a few minutes then died and would not start or even try. I checked and it was getting spark and I knew it had fuel in the tank so I tapped the carb and still nothing. I ended up being pretty pi**y. I finally figured it out. The nose of the DS was facing a bit down hill and the gas went in the overflow and it ended up vaporlocking. I drained some of the gas and it ran great.

How can you tell if the valves are burnt? The shims have black rings around them but they all have them and it looks pretty normal to me. Wouldn't rejetting only affect WOT and not starting? I haven't looked at anything yet because I am waiting for monday to get some new shims and see what happens. I'll post back when I get the valves adjusted and put back together. Thanks for the help so far

The way to check if the valves are burned is to do a compression check. To see if you are running too lean, check the spark plugs to see if the color is white. Black means too rich. They should be light tan for the correct mixture.
