Idle EGT temps are really not important. Make it idle well. What you really need to watch is your full throttle and midrange temps. I can tell you from experience that most burndowns occur in the midrange. I would error on the safe side and get your temps on the main jet around 1200 F. Then start messing with the needle, set it so your temps in midrange cruise are around 1200 f also. Just remember that every bike and every gauge is different so what temp works for one wont necessarily work for you. It all depends on the gauge, probe location and other factors. And if you hear ANY pinging/detonation get out of it and give it some more fuel. Just remember that its always better to be cold and rich than hot and lean with a seized piston or a hole in it. They always run better than they ever have right before it blows up. LEAN IS MEAN!
