Dune Devil is correct. Put the probe about 4" away from the head. You want to run at wide open throttle at about 1250 to 1280 degree's. Your piston starts it's melting point at 1300 degree's. This is the best way to tune in a 2-stroke and I haven't figured out why I haven't done it yet?!

They should be around 1000 at idle or so. Just jet accordingly to the condition. You want to run cooler at idle an then drive around half throttle and watch it. Like I said you want those temps to be as close to 1300 with out going over. You want to stay between 1200 and 1300 from off-idle all the way to full throttle.
