piston ring gap - anyone know?
As correctly stated earlier the ring gap should be a percentage of the bore (eg."think it is .004 per inch, so set it at .016" suggestion above would assume a 4" bore) and should also be specified by the piston mfg to the rings supplied with the piston.
Remember
too much gap = lost comp and blow by
too little gap= no room for expansion and engine failure.
I have seen various debates on ring gap and all the changes needed for different set ups. Nitros, turbo, blown engines, very high rpm and stock comp engines all have diff needs.
