You can look at my pics to see how mine are done, sorry the pics arn't very good. I used a jigsaw for the initial cut and then touched them up with a disk grinder.

Not ANY worse than before! the mud just flys forward and hits the back of the front fenders. The only thing that is bad is with no heelguards the backs of my legs and feet get wet and muddy but the cut fenders didn't effect that.

I've got clear pix...
And if you search on "Fenders" you'll see the other topic about "cutting" and how it's done.

Are you better off doing this with rear plastic being 175 or the metal - alum floor boards? I took one side off mine and was looking at how "floopy"the fenders are... Its safe th assume that this is bothersome to me being over 300# and 6-2 due to the fact when I lean back I am afriad of breaking plastic or rubbing the tire... Also my buddys girl rides it at a whooping 5-7 98# and loves the fact shes only been riding clutch about 6 hours a smokes his a$$ on a well built raptor (he he he) so do I bite my lip and pull out the air grinder or metal floor boards???

you will need fenders supports if you remove the heelguards, no matter how much fender you cut off, or they will flap like wings. the only fender supports made mount to the same tabs the heelguards mount to, so if they get cut off in the process you'll have to fab your own supports. the factory rod that supports the stock heelguards is great material for this.
I get no muddier than before, I ride woods trails most of the time, creek crossings get a little more water on the back of my boots, but hey that's just another good reason to wear boots.
one things for sure, your bike won't weigh 30 lbs. heavier at the end of a ride from all the mud clinging to the heelguards and fenders, and its that much easier to clean and maintain.
I have pics too

Ok Hightower your set up looks ultra clean lots of thought must went into that!!! Looks like you cut off the tabs and fabbed a stright bar to the frame.. Maybe to the old mounting point??? Also are those bomber nerfs or someone elses??? I am in the works of getting some but there are too many weak ones out there... Also love how you ran your pipe. I bent my grab bar the other day and packed my pipe with dirt another stupid mistake showing off for girls ( someday Ill learn) whats a good grab bar that will take failed wheelies??? I know nothing is bend or idiot proof but I can't take many $40 rear grab bars... Even though my dealer loves when I come stomping in with dirt on my back side and a angry look on my face..

Draw on your fender with a grease pencil how you want them to be, trial and error just clean it off and start over if you don't like it. cut one side, make a template of it with paper to trasnfer exact semetry to the other side. then cut it. finish off with grinder or old fashioned way like i did - a rasp. then use a new sharp razor blade to zip down the edges of the cut and chamfer the edges with the blade perpindicular to the plastic, just one quick zip with the blade striaght up and you'll watch the plastic curl off like a lathe cut.

yes I fabbed fender supports outa that stock metal rod that framed the heelguards, drilled a hole in the plastic to mount to, and attached other end to the frame mount where the heelguards used to bolt to the subframe.

I have Graydon nerfs, the new Graydons have a new style of webbing that way different from anthing else I've seen, mine are older. But the tubing is the same - thickest ones out there, 1-1/4" tubing, very strong, bounce off trees without a care in the world. The pipe is a Yoshimura, they come bent that way. I now run a White Bros. Pro-Meg though, its not quite as tucked away but still well behind the grab bar. I use PRM grab bars, never broke or bent one, but others have, none are indestructable.

Got done with mine yesterday... Wow looks and turned out great!! took my time and used the rod from the foot guards (At least they where good for somthing!) And spent 3 hrs bending them juuuust right.. Then took the whiz wheel and did a little manacure on the tabs and stood back and thought how much more cow dung I would get on me.. Thanks for the help.. P.S. have you heard good or bad on bombers nerfs?
