Bombardier, we want a 2-stroke quad!!
I've been continuously thinking about it... I would think Bomb would hit it big by coming it with a 2-stroke quad.
Here's what i think it should be :
DS 650 Chassis and suspension.
Rotax 600cc or 800cc 2-stroke twins.
You could fit the big 800 into the DS chassis with a few mods.
These motors are killer... (800cc RAVE (Electronically-controlled R.A.V.E. exhaust valves), SDI (Semi-direct fuel/oil injection, no carbs) and they run as clean as most four-strokes.
The 800cc gives out a hefty 140+HP stock while the 600cc is around 110HP. Since they run so much cleaner and burn considerably less fuel than conventional carbed 2-strokes, they would not have problems with environmental issues.
Not to mention, these motors are way lighter than the Rotax 650 thumper.
They could WAY undergear it from the factory so that it doesn't break 80mph (but gets there faster than you can say go) as to not have to deal with lawsuits.
My dad just bought a 2003 Ski-Doo Legend GT (2-up touring machine) with the 800cc motor i'm referring to. That thing pulls 2 or 3 times harder than my DS...not to mention all the way to 115+ mph.
Can you imagine a 140 hp DS, stock?? I think it would be incredible and those that drag and hillshoot would buy it in a flash. (Too much power for MX or trails, unfortunately). With pipes your touching 155 hp...
If only Bombardier had the ***** to do it... All they would need is a transmission and clutch that could hold up to all that power....
Hopefully my prayers will be answered.

How about you build it and bring it down to the dunes and show everyone how well it works. I really like high horsepower machines and it sounds like you have all the parts. You're dad won't mind if you take the engine out of his sled and put it in your DS. It is all in the name of science.

The emissions are down 50% and the fuel mileage is up 25%.
