Default Bearing bad already.

I did a search on here about the bottom steering stem bearing. A few guys had to replace them but it don't seem like huge a problem area. I have an '04 X with about 15 hrs on it and the bearing is loose already. I don't think thats right. Do you guys think the dealer should warranty it or is it not worth the hassle? The rod ends ar a little loose also but I think that is probably acceptable normal wear. Other than that I love this thing. Great trail machine. Super, super comfy!

Have you tried just tightening things up a bit? The only wear n tear you should see after 15 hrs would be tires...maybe. Unless you have 100% confidence in your dealership and you have money to burn I would seriously start investing in your tool selection and a manual. Get your torque ratchets and sockets and get to know your quad...your safety and your quad parts life expectancy will be greatly enhanced.

PS--get some loctite also...should just be two nuts and bolts on that bearing keeper if I remember right...mine became loose shortly after I bought it but haven't had any problems since I tightened it up.

Those two little bolts came loose on mine once. That bearing should last a long time- relatively light loads and few rotations.

Diddo here. I oil the bearing regularly, but the two small bolts came loose a long time ago. After tightening, everything has stayed tight.

Thanks men. It was just the two little bolts. I wouldn't think that the bearing could go bad. Like you said, it don't turn much with any load. By the way, I ordered a manual when I bought the machine. I just haven't picked it up yet. I've seen the ones on e-bay but I figured I will be better off with the one for my exact machine. Thanks again.
