Just add up the amperage draw on the equipment you'll use and multiply by 120, that will give you watts. Then choose the generator for that rating.

Quick info
5500watts is 45.8amps
4500watts is 37.5amps
3500watts is 29.1amps
2500watts is 20.8amps

You'll want to flick the switch on the high current items first, because they will draw a larger start up current. Then the equipment will draw back to it's operating current. This way you won't overload the generator and knock it off-line.

I have a 5500 continous Honda powered, it's a little too much for what I need, but I always plan for the worst case scenario.
