This cycle is NUTS!!

The only way those prices are possible is if he payed a design team to design them from the ground up and then a magnifacturer to custom build them.
The stupid part is, if he actually did this, that there are so many companies making good aftermarket tires/suspension/etc... he's either stupid or, well he has to be stupid. lol can't think of a good reason!
I could see fabricating one or two odd items if you had an new idea or something but to do that with such common things as suspension and tires?
On a second look I noticed 60k for fuel and lubricants.... umm... I would bet pure jet fuel doesnt cost that much. So even using $10.00 a gallon for fuel that's about 6000 gallons of race fuel. Even if it's true wth does that have to do with anything?
Let's see. My DS has used $900.00 dollars in fuel over it's lifespan! Heck my car has used only about 10k in fuel!
BUT!!! They throw in free shipping! what a deal!

I do know that the bike is LOOSLY based on the Busa. Even the frame is custom. Its been shortened which is no easy task with that type of frame(is double walled or some such). There are very few pieces that are not custom built specifically for this bike. Hardly anything is "off the shelf". Rad has a friend that works for Roush and they spent many an night working with their designing software on the frame. For a big bike, it REALLY handles! I would imagine that some of the prices are what a person with no "friends" would spend. He really did use a wind tunnel for designing the bodywork, but they snuck it in between some sessions when there was time. If i remember correctly, this is the 3rd version of his road race Busa. The first two he actually raced in formula extreme. Funny, i would have never imagined that a ROOFER by trade(he owns his own roofing business) could afford to do something like this. Even if he actually spent 1/4 of what he claims!

Yeah I dont doubt it's sweet. Just funny when I hear claims of close to a million spent on a machine. When you think of what all you can buy for that kinda cash it makes me sick.
I'm all for performance and I'm willing to pay for it to some extent but there are limits. lol
As for estimating fabricating cost... The only people who do this kinda stuff (aside from those extremely rair rich morons) are people with a ton of connections and ability who don't need to really spend anything close to that much, or a magnifacturer who invariably pays somewhat inflated cost to do everything!
I still cant see how he came up with 60k for fuel and lubricants tho... I live in an oil town and he could prolly get enough fuel and oil of any variety to run the bike continuosly for 2 years for that price.

Yea, I think those are Inflated numbers for sure, although I would bet he has spent over 250,000 on this machine easy. I remember watching SPEED channel awhile back and they has a spec sheet on the TOP MX racers and the cost of their bikes. The forks alone were 0ver $30,000 for a set, and the whole bike costs around $100,000. So that is what kind of money it takes for a dirtbike to be at its Optimium performance, so I could only imagine how much money could be sunk into a Street bike.
Bigger.

hey bird .. it wasn't done on a gps but at most what could my Speedo be off 5-8 mph even so I was at least at 170 . but I understand its hard to hit those speeds on a closed coarse . I just can see spending that kind of money to be able to hit 200 on the straights . im sure the bike performs excellent and all . But to a real racer consistent lap times will always make up more time then hitting 200 on the straights ..
my buddy has a 03 busa with the speed limiter taken out and i would say maybe at most 2g,s in mods and he can break 200 . sure it might take about a mile but hes still bustin 200mph .
hey i guess what ever flots your boat ..lol

The thing with things like the forks for MX bikes... Theyre usually preproduction for one company or another. The top riders are always testing and working with the magnifacturers. Preproduction stuff always cost alot to make because theyre one of a kind...at the time.
Once they hit production (if they do) then the cost is back down in the consumers reach. But it doesnt even mean necesarily that theyre all that better than what the next guy is using. If they are better it's usually a incrimental change.
It just doesnt make sense to fabricate everything for a machine like that. I could see it back in the early 70's when there wasnt such a thing as a "sport bike" like we have today.

i have hit 178 on my CBR 954RR .
so i know a 1300cc busa will not have a problem with another 20mph .

No you haven't. And you would be surprised just how much more HP than stock it takes a 12R or Busa to get to 200. Don't elieve me? goto www.suzukihayabusa.org and as the Busa guru Motorhead...

Rule of thumb is 9% error on Jhap bikes -- I have an 02 Busa so i know...How did you buddy "take out" the speed limiter? All you can do is trick the computer with either a PC3R or a TRE... And he will not bust 200...Maybe 192-194 with a PC3R, Full System, and a full box mod... You 954 will do no more than 172-172 on GPS....

How can you judge exactly how fast it will go... There are so many factors that can make a difference. Especially break in. 2 friends of mine both bought brand new 2002 R1's last year at the same time. They were both stock and had roughly the same miles at the time of testing.
The heaviest guy (by about 20 pounds) of the two hit 180 mph on Radar. The 2nd R1, with the lighter guy, moments later, only managed to get to 173 mph on the same radar...
Some bikes are naturally "gifted" more than others... Just like quads...
