I just purchased a new 2002 Quest 650. I got a great deal because it had been in dealer's inventory over a year and wanted to move it. I have researched 4 x 4 utility/sports for over a year and really was "sold" on Bombardier. I picked up the unit at the 1st of November and encountered problems the first day. The second time I tried to start it, it wouldn't start. After many hours of trying everything, I decided the battery was bad and bought a new battery -- the old one did test bad at the store. New battery still did not allow it to start. I took it back to the dealer and they fixed it (said the terminals/connections were loose and needed cleaning with wire brush. It was fine for 2 days and then changing gears became impossible so I took it back. They adjusted the idle and gear shifting was smooth as could be. After riding it for 1 minute and then cutting it off, it refused to crank again. Took it back to the dealer and they said the starter was bad AND the new battery was bad. They replaced both and continued to test before sending it back to me. After cranking about 10 times it failed them also. Something had fried the new battery and starter. They called Bombardier support and found out that there was a recall on this unit that involved relay swith box and other electrical items. I just picked it up this past Saturday and am crossing my fingers. I still love the look, ride, power, etc. but I'm wondering if I should have bought Honda or Yamaha. I've heard problems about the 650 messing up the gears when snowplowing and I have a snowplow attachment but am afraid to use it. Anything new on this problem? I will say that my dealer has been very responsive and apologetic. I'm also checking with Bombardier to see if the 3 year warranty special covers my 2002 unit and so far it looks promising.
