CDI....worth it or not?
I'm kinda with PTL - I was under the impression the Big Gun units only worked with the newer DSs. I'm quite interested in a Big Gun for my 2001 DS as long as I don't have to jury rig the thing like people have done with the RWR CDIs on Baja DSs. However, I just looked on the Big Gun site under accessories then Rev boxes. They show two pictures and list two different models specifically for 00-02 and 02.5 - 04. So I guess that is the answer, they now have one for the older ATVs. This is a good thing, it means I might be able to spend a little less on the rev box for my fiance's machine. (She doesn't drag the hill yet.)

Are you trying to be sarcastic with the "ok" or something? Now that I know that these Big Gun replica cdi's will work on the older version DS's I want one! But do they have a rev limiter like the big gun or is it non limited like the RWR cdi? It don't matter but I don't wanna spend money on a cdi that don't advance timing and only increase rev limit or some $hit.

It is true that there was talk (a few weeks ago) that Big Gun was actually going to sell a CDI (which was made by Procom) for the Standard DS. I don't believe they actually got any of those units yet (I could be wrong). The main point of contention is that the power curves in the Procom CDIs are proprietary to Big Gun, and cant be sold by anybody else, even the manufacturer. But Procom is selling them on EBAY with what is believed to be the Big Gun power curve. Certainly, sales employees are saying its the same as the Big Gun CDI.
Another example of this is Nipondenso. They make CDIs. For example: XYZ Company can develop a power curve and contract with Nipondenso to make it. However, it would be a breach of that contract if Nipondenso sells the CDI with XYZ's power curve and tell everyone its just like XYZ's. Not only does this leave Nipondenso in legal hot water, it would ****-off XYZ company and they would certainly bring out the 'Big Guns' and take action.
That's the information that I have so far.
