Time to get the 760 crank........

Damn fellas, I appreciate all the info! Right now I have the JE piston from Sam Coe's 720 (105mm) kit. Looks like I'll be getting into additional expenses with this whole stroker thing! I wonder if it would be just as cost effective if not cheaper to just build up the top end? Perhaps dual 39's as well? Right now my 720 is mild with stock valves although I have the 40/34 valves with seats sitting in the garage. I have Web 109 cams with RWR springs (not shim under bucket kit), mild port job and the TM 45. From what I hear the peak HP numbers are close with the 720 & 760 but the torque curve is considerably dirrerent between the two. Any ideas? I really need more speed but was not aware of everything involved with the stroker kit.

Mr. H.P., I don't think it was so much to be made aware as it was a slight oversight. I am not sure what happened with those pistons. All I know is that they had to cut my Cylinder down .050 to get me my 13:1. Hey Hillbilly after seeing Mario's 720 run you should think about having TVI do your head work and I think you will be extremely happy! Also go with 48mm carb.

The Bombardier retail price is $815 for a crankshaft.
Is it really true that the piston was originally .050 in the hole? That would seem to lose more power than it gained. I find it hard to believe that a company with a their reputation that builds race engines did not blue print their new setup. Are you guys sure about this? That just doesn't seem likely.

What???
I don't understand?
Please explain.

has anyone talked to crankworks or twister cranks to see if they will build one, or stroke a stock crank? I bet they would. I got my crankworks billet banshee stroker for $540 and it's a twin!

I think there is more than one or two, make sure you take your time unless you can blow your money! MoRe HorsePower is what everyone is looking for. If its to good to be true than think twice. The good guys aren't cheap, But what is cheap? IMO!
Just my 2cents worth!

Hey Punisher, you say you had to get your cylinder cut to get that compression....well, the base gasket I am using is as thick as 2 factory ones, do you think a cheap idea would be to use the regular factory gasket to bump comp. up a little. My engine builder always clays the engine anyway to check clearances. Bad idea?

The double thick base gasket is what came with the 720 kit from Sam Coe, he said you have to either use two factory gaskets or use the double thick one he provided. When my engine was put together & clayed my builder said clearances were fine. I need to ask him soon if fine means room for the thinner gasket.

Samcoes piston was a little tall in the hole. You have to run at least .015 blow deck height with his piston or it will kiss the head and cause a head gastket leak. You can mill out the head to compentsate for this if you want but not recommended. As far as the list price for that crank is I can get it for under $400.00 new. And as far as it being .050 in the hole, yes I would have lost power but if you read my post a little closer that is why I said they had to shave off .050 on the bottom side of my cylinder, to compensate.
