Which brand of shocks???
#1
Well, I had a stock shock come apart, supposed to be getting a replacement from the factory. Anyway I decided I wanted to get some nice tripple rate shocks for up front. I looked into works performance and I can get a set of tripple rates emulsion not resivor for about 450. I sent an email to Elka and I can get a set of tripple rate with self-sagging device for 525 bucks. anybody have any experience with these brands or advice on other brands and approx. prices. the most I want to spend is the 525 for Elka ( I really like the look of the Elka).
Thanks,
Tom

I bought works shocks for my quad, they are better then the stock shock. But I have heard nothing but excellent reviews about Elka. If Elka are that close in price to Works, I would put out the extras money. jmo

I have top of the line works on the front $800 and I love them. Way better than stock. Elka quad rates were going to run me 1250 for the fronts. I have heard that stock to works is like works to elkas. That is impressive. I am going to send my works and stock rear to tcs to make them into zero preload all out race shocks, and still have less money than I would to buy the elkas in the first place. You can never spend too much money on shocks.
Anyway, I have a couple friends with the lower line works and elkas, and I would go with the elkas, if you can find a good place to rebuild them. In the midwest where I live the dealers take months to get a set of elkas rebuilt, but the works are coming back in three weeks. Just something to consider.

I spoke with a guy at Elka today and for the DS it would be $600 as a cause of the longer travel. I asked him what kind of warranty the shocks come with, and he replied that I won't have any problems with the shocks and if I do send them back to him and they will take care of it !!! If this is true the cost is of no conceren, so to speak, if you have a company that actually stands behind there product like that, that is where my money is going. I am looking at the recreational shock, tripple rate with self-sagging device. The guy I spoke with also said that if in the future I wanted to converte to resivores with all the goodies that it runs $450 and they do a complete shock service. sorry that got so long but I was impresed with what they do. btw..bajaiowa, how often do your friends have there shocks serviced?? I'm not going to purchase from a dealer..I will buy straight from the factory. I will be riding dunes majority and desert every now and again.
