Does anyone have the big gun exaust system for their DS650 and if so did it help any.
I have read in this forum alot about the WOOD stage1 kit and problems people have been having with it. With the stage1 kit working like it should is it worth the 1400 bucks I will have to spend on it? I called RON WOOD RACING and the guy said that since where I live in North Carolina is only about 500ft above sea level I should have no problems with the kit.

There is an older thread that I started called Big Gun exhaust that had a ton of great information. You might want to look back and find that one. It was started sometime last month.

I have been awol from the forums lately, but while away I got a big gun and got it on and jetted and I love it. The noise is a little louder than I would prefer, but other than that it fit fairly good ( i only had to make a couple of spacers to get it away from the airbox.), and the ceramic finish is the only way to go for me from now on. The power is great from bottom to top, no hesetation anywhere, and hits the rev limiter constantly if you don't shift quickly. I will probably go with a dynojet jet kit when they get around to producing one and a aftermarket airfilter, some paddles and hopefully enjoy my ds for years to come. Hope this helps

I don't have a big gun exhaust but have you seen the write up on it at www.bombardierds650.com/reviews/biggun.htm?

desertds, I found it necessary to make the gearing taller on the DS after installing either a carb or a pipe. I weigh around 170 lbs. The stock gearing is too low for me. The low gearing is contributing to hitting the rev limit, makes the first 3 gears too short, wears out tires quick, and leaves first gear useless and dangerous when you get traction. With taller gearing, the motor is under more of a load. Wheelies are more easy now because I have some gear left after getting the front end up. If you are in my weight range, a 5-10% change works fine even with stock components, except for a K&N filter, larger main jet, and no airbox lid. I run a 38 tooth rear sprocket and a 17 tooth countershaft sprocket.

Since there is not a heat shield, does it make to much heat on youre leg?We ride for long distances and was wondering if anyone had experienced this or is it not a problem .

I don't notice any more heat than the stocker put off and the ceramic coating is supposed to run cooler by a few degrees. Thanks for the gearing tip scooby, I'll probably wait untill after I can afford paddles to try it.
