For those looking for a idea on the stock snorkel with K&N. Check out my pics, I made this from a street sign. Just use the airbox to get the right hole size and cut out the alluminum and bend the top 90 deg and bolt through the fender bolts. I did a lot of polishing to bake it look like that. Hope this helps.

There you go ironrod. Build on of these out of billet aluminum and you already have a sale.

Thanks for the pictures Jerfinds, that is EXACTLY what I had in mind. Very nice DS650 you have there by the way, with some really clean custom work.

Phil.

Jerfinds, I like that mod, simple and clean. Where did you relocate the rectifier to?

isn't that what the guys are saying there finding that the tube actually helps keep horsepower? i know i bought the carb mount a couple years ago thinking it would make a big difference and never seemed to see it. i know i pulled my tube off the shelf yesterday and put it on to see how to mount it under the seat. Anyone have a easy way to plug the vacuum tube vent hole on the side?

At an auto parts store I found a rubber cap (female) that goes right over the stock vacuum tube vent. I hose clamped it right to the right angle fitting that is part of the vacuum tube.

Some people are running their crank case breather hose to that hole. This is what I am going to do when I switch back over.

I though about doing that, but the crank case hose might create disturbance in the air flow. From what I understand the snorkel tube creates more hp by straitening out the air flow and creating a higher velocity. The alternating suction and blow by can't be a good thing.

I relocated the rectifier to under the tool storage compartment. I drilled two holes in the long skinny part, If you take out the tool bag you will see what I am talking about. Just hold the rectifier up mark where the holes have to be and use the same bolts that were used on the airbox. I will post a pic if I can find one on the computer, If not I will take one tomorrow and post it.

To Jerfinds: I like the way your set-up looks, but I hate to say it. You will only lose H.P. with that set-up. Come-on you guys. Where's some help on this one, I know a lot of ds riders that know better than this. That set-up will not work with a stock C.V. carb or an lectron carb, ect, ect, ect.
(1) Number one----- What part of MR.H.P or BOM or 222, do you guys not understand.
But at the same time I would LIKE TO THANK ALL THAT DID THE CARB SHOOT-OUT. IT WAS GREAT READING.
