Default mobil 1 ?

I like full syn oil,and I run mobil 1. but now I need a new clutch I don't think it was the oil because I am hard on clutches with a lot of 2ng gear drops with tall gears(and this clutch lasted a long time). but now that i need a new clutch is mobil 1 15w 50 a good oil for it or is mobil 1 v twin oil better or maybe 20w 50 amsoil ? I hear people say hp4 is good but I don't like the honda dealer in town, so i don't want to go that route. so I need a oil that I can just go buy and not have to order. I would like to hear your in put.

i used to run mobil 1 15W50 full synthetic, but they recently reformulated the 15w50. i no longer think that it is a good choice for an ATV motor.

i now use mobil 1 full synthetic 20W50 V-TWIN oil and it is rated JASO MA which means high friction for wet clutch compatibility. you can get it right at walmart for the lowest price - $6.92.

i highly recommend heavy clutch springs and replacing them periodically.

it also helps to lightly surface the steels with very fine sand paper. but done incorrectly can shorten the life of the fibers rather than lengthen it.

i have run mobile1, 4 stroke wet clutch synthetic oil in the winter for the past 2 years. seems fine but i did notice more clutch slip with it after a hard pounding. i might be going with the honda oil soon.

The Mobil 1 V-twin and 20W-50 Amsoil are designed for air cooled 4 strokes (like Harleys) I dont think that the regular Mobil1 15w-50 is good for your clutch though? I dont believe that it is wet clutch compatable. It was not designed for that use. There is a Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 for sport bikes that may work. It is designed for wet clutch systems like on sport bikes. Amsoil makes an oil that is wet clutch compatable too. They have a 10W-40 Motorcycle oil and a 20W-50 V-twin oil. Royal Purple has their Max-Cycle motorcycle oil that is wet clutch compatable. It is available in 10W30, 10W40 and 20W50.

Hello

I am going to try Amsoil in my Outlander 400 H.O. XT They are the first to develop an API-rated 100 percent synthetic motor oil.
And I am going to use it in my Harley Road King also.

You may want to check out there website at amsoil.com
They make oils for every vehicle.

Seems like they have the best synthetic oil out there.
I will let you know how it works.

Have tried the fully synthetics but prefer the fully mineral oils due to clutch slip all synthetics have friction modifiers that wet clutches don't like Down in OZ I prefer to use Caltex Magnatec have done with four DS's and never a problem.

Not all Synthetic motor oils have Friction Modifier. Amsoil makes a Friction Modifier Free oil for ATVs
0W-40 Product code AFF

AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil contains no friction modifiers, making it ideal for ATV, outboard motor and motorcycle engines. The friction modifier free formulation of AMSOIL 4-Stroke ensures transmission (manual or automatic) and clutch compatibility and prevents slip.

Excert from Mobil 1 Mortorcycle Oils web page
http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lub...cycle_Oils.asp...

Applications
Mobil 1 Motorcycle Oils are full synthetic, high-performance engine oils formulated
specifically to meet the demanding needs of motorcycle engines. Mobil 1 MX4T
10W-40 is designed primarily for on-road, high-performance, 4-cycle sport bikes,
however, it may be used in other types of on and off-road 4-cycle motorcycles.
Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 is formulated to offer outstanding protection in 4-cycle,
V-Twin type engines, particularly those which are air cooled and tend to run hotter
than other types of engines. Mobil 1 MX2T is a full-synthetic 2-cycle engine oil which
provides exceptional lubricity to help prevent piston scuffing, and excellent protection
against exhaust port clogging, in high-performance, 2-cycle motorcycle engines.

Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 and Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 are recommended for 4-cycle,
motorcycles which specify the use of a 10W-40 or a 20W-50 engine oil, respectively.
These products will provide excellent performance in motorcycle engines that are
designed with a common engine/transmission lubrication system or where the
engine lubrication system is separate from the transmission system. In the case
of the latter, follow the manufacturer's recommendation for the type of fluid to be
used in the transmission. Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 and Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 engine
oils are also designed to provide the proper frictional characteristics necessary for
wet-clutch engine/transmission systems. Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 and Mobil 1 V-Twin
20W-50 exceed the requirements of API Service Categories SH, SG/CF, CD and
have been fully tested, both on laboratory dynamometers and in the field, to provide
optimum horsepower and acceleration.
Reading the above suggests to me Mobil MX4T 10W-40 should be a good synthetic
to use on a Bombardier Outlander 400.
