Bombardier Rulz...

 

Anyone else notice there is now an Asterisk next to the word Bombardier and at the bottom it says "used under license" I think this means that Bombardier recreational products wont be changing their name after the change up - that's a good thing! So anyone wanna bet what the 2005 DS650 Dakar will be like? It seems they could re-name the Baja X, but that doesn't seem to be in the style of Bombardier.

 

i mentioned it in a post a while back, i think there were about 11-12 quads ran in the rally, for anyone that doesnt know it over 11000miles from paris france to dacar in south africa,


well done Bombardier,

just a pity they couldnt have got all 6 ds's to the finish line,

 

the line up was

6 bombardier ds650
2 yamaha raptors
1 yamaha banshee with tmd850 motor
1 w-tec eraser with cbr 9000 engine,

 

2 of the ds riders were canadian women,

 

I can understand the banshee breaking if its modified to that extreme as well as that other quad, the raptors very odd, but I dont know if that posting was good OR bad for the DS, I mean out of 6 DS650's, only 1 made it???????????????

 

i think they were all run independantly from the factory and in fairness to all the machines, theres a good chance that the riders could have been unfit to get to the end, or the docs could have pulled them,

its with out doubt the most gruelling race on the plannet, i saw some footage of the race and there was a guy came off in the dunes and bashed his face, he was pretty concussed but didnt realise it, the guys with the camera were asking him if he was ok, he was talking ok and said he was gona set off again, then someone asked him his name, he just broke down in tears at the realisation he had lost his memory and couldnt remember who he was,


another oriental dood came off in the sahara desert dunes and couldnt get moving again, he was pushing his bike up a dune and just kept collapsing with exhaustion, he managed to finish the stage and the doctors said he could continue next day, but he decided he couldnt continue,


i wouldnt be to hard on bombardier a win is a win,

uk rally driving suprimo Collin Mc rae won in the cars, hes into his quads as well,

UKZilla said it. The Paris Dakar rally makes the baja look like a roadside go kart race. its awesome to watch it on tv, too bad speedvision doesnt cover the atv class.
