Oil choices again..

You also can use amsoil synthentic motorcycle oil 10w/40. It is made just for motorcycles & atvs that have wet clutchs. If you cant find a dealer you can buy it off the internet. About half the cost of bombardier synthentic oil.

I seem to remember a quantity of posts on here referring to Mobile 1 as the oil that caused their clutch to slip. Chilly is correct regarding the Friction modifiers and Mobile 1 has them. There are many oil companys jumping on the "wet clutch oil" bandwagon lately in fact Mobile make a mobile 1 just for our machines its called Mobile1-4T and its about 6.50 a quart. I have it in both of my quads (50.00 worth )and it did not effect the clutch at all.
If you look for a oil that is made for wet clutches you really can't go wrong. They are made for high revving, high heat engines and won't effect the clutch. Problem is, they are expensive but then, so it an engine o/h.

I still run Valvoline 20-50 motorcycle oil "w/ superior wet clutch protection".... After hard launches and doing nothing but running the hill on the weekends, I have to replace my clutch plates once every 5 weeks or so... Losing rotating mass in the back has helped a bit. Ive ran bombardier synthetic (Years ago)and went through a clutch in one weekend.. The TVI or pami springs Are the best ..IMO
I at least know I can depend on the valvoline, I want to try new oils but I cannot afford to get caught slippin. My clutch slipped just a tad this weekend (barely noticable), but I need a new one now..

Mobil 1 15w50 does not say energy conserving but all the other mobil 1 weights do, so does that mean that the 15w50 does not have friction moddifers and is ok for your clutch? Because I am a big fan of mobil 1 and would like to keep running it if it is ok for the clutch.

It is my understanding that only oils with "energy conserving" stated in the API circle contain friction modifiers.

I called Ron Wood Racing and they said REDLINE SYNTHETIC 10-40wt is the best choice! I've been using REDLINE for over 20 years and it works for me!
I've done 3 oil changes in my DS650 and no problems. Bombardier say no other oils and this is a way to get you to buy their oil! My wifes Wolverine uses REDLINE as do we use REDLINE racing 2 stroke in our banshee with never a problem.
