No "O RING" its called a compression washer. I think its made of brass. Supposed to be a 1 time use thing according to the manual I think.

Dont believe it has an o-ring on the drain plug. It does have a metal washer though.

Check the threads on the plug. Look for stripped threads. They are easy to strip.

there are several places oil could leak from. if you don't catch the leak while the cases are dry of oil, it's difficult to determine where the oil leak originated. gravity tends to draw any leaking fluid under the crankcase.

If TVI or the shipper dont cover the dammage:

If its a minor crack, and the case is still straight, and true, just seaps a bit? Id drain it, leave it drain out good for a day. Then Jack up the rear tires a bit to make any remaining oil run away from the drain plug, let sit another day like that. Clean the crack with carb cleaner on the outside really good. Then use "JB weld" epoxy on it to seal it externally. (Really good stuff!) The cleaner it is, the longer the stuff will hold. Let it cure for 1-2 days. Pain in the *** and time consuming to do it clean and properly, but it may save you some serious $$$ and last for a long time if done right.

If you dont like that idea, or if its a bigger crack/dent, 1. you can either buy new case halves, or 2. split the case and try to have a professional welder weld it and make sure it didnt warp.

I had my 600 dualsport motor on the bench after a rebuild 10 years ago, and it flopped over and fell on the floor. It pushed the drain pkug and part of the case into the motor. Luckilly i found a junk yard motor with good case halves for under $200 to repair it. Lesson learned there!

My drain plug seal is an aluminum washer. It usually sticks to my case, and can be easy to miss. sometimes it drops off into the oil pan like 2 minutes after the plug was removed. I usualluy have to pick it out of the oil pan.

The BMW filter "kits" for the F650 bikes come with a the filter and a new washer for the plug, as well a a few o-rings for the filter cap and some other items. I think the Kit was 11 bucks from my local BMW bike dealer. I usually get the kit every 4 oilchanges and replace the drain plug washer and filter cap o-ring. Keep the old drain plug washer for a spare just incase....
