New to the Gang

Just want to introduce myself and say hello. I been reading the forum for about a month now and decided to join in on the fun. I have got some good info from some of you and hope I can help as well.
I do have a question for you end cap guys. What are you doing when you ride in an area that requires a spark arrestor, because I can't believe anyone would go back to the stock cap. No sound/spark requirements in my area by the way.

Welcome to the gang!
Technically, everywhere in CA REQUIRES it, however I keep my stocker with me in case a ranger wants to see it in legal trim. Personally I'll just switch to the stocker for the rest of the day if I need to. It also gives me the ability to not only become spark arrested, but also sound legal too, considering all of CA now has a 96 db limit as well. If you want spark arresting without using the stock end cap go to a -good- hardware store, pick up some real metal screen, and you should be able to fabricate a spark arrester that way. Or at Wal-Mart there is supposedly some strainer in the kitchen section that will work however I was not able to find anything that would fit to my liking at my local Wal-Mart.

I do the same as black hawk keep my stocker with me. I tried the screen Idea but it would not stay in the pipe and I could not find screen any heavier. But the strainer is a good idea I would have tried that but it is the first I heard of it.

BigWaynester,
I'm from Madison, along the Ohio River. Sweet lookn ride you got there. What bend are those trail tech bars? Been thinkn about a set of them myself. The trimmed fenders really show that Wood pipe off good. I just sent my stock header off to get Cermakromed, hope it turns out good.

Welcom to the Forums.
I think most parks say you need the arrester.
Check out the midwesttrailriders.com site. they are down there in your area.
Blackhawk, I like your bouncing moniker

In Oregon at the dunes there is no requirement for a SA but there are noise limits, we just ride faster when you see the green truck...

Dude, you are at the other end of the state from me, I would rather be down there, much better riding areas.
I have the med bend trail tech bars.
What is Cermakromed ? I had my pipe recoated (ceramic) I can keep everything shined up good except the head pipe, let us know how the coating holds up.
I know you are at the other end of the state, but you gotta try the DS in the Sand, it rules! You should plan a Silver Lake trip.

BigWaynester,
How do you like those bars?
Cermakromed is the high luster ceramic coating that Process Coatings uses. I will take some pics when I get it back and put them on my page.
There are several riding areas within reasonable driving distance from here, but I seldom go because there is a lot of private land riding around my home + time issues.
Thinking of going to Silver Lake or Little Sahara OK or both this summer.

Hey, I love the bars ! they work great, just not sure what the best grips are for them.
You are lucky to have riding areas near you. I might call that coating place.
IF you only make one dune trip go to Little Sahara, it is bigger than Silver Lake, and has less rules. Not sure how far each place is from you, but I would guess it would take about 8 hrs to get to silver Lake. If you do go to Silve rLake let me know.
