Default Fee At Dumont

What a surprise getting to Dumont today. 20 bucks for a permit for Pres. weekend and there will be a fee for Easter weekend too.
I didn't hear anything about this and the worst part is when punisher and me went to hog heaven I didn't have enough for a sammie. Thanks Tony for bailing me out.

He means, 20$ for a camp site. I guess they are starting to charge there.

That info was posted on the BLM website on Feb. 5th.

It's going to be $60 for a yearly pass.

They mean $20 per vehicle. My wife drove in Saturday and she got tagged for $20 also.

We saw the NEW signs this weekend as well. We got to the top where the cops where checking and then turned around and went into the canyon to unload. Then traveled through the camp areas to Comp and the rest of Dumont. Now I JUST bought a non-resident green sticker. Is this fee in addition to the green sticker? Or is it an either or kind of a thing? Can anyone clarify this? What's with the fees? Are they going to pave the wash-board on the way in? How about more rest rooms? showers? Water?

How can someone charge us for using federal land? Don't we live here? Man, this is getting rediculous!

My sticker says Prez day '04. I was told by the lady collecting duckets Easter would be another $20 per vehicle.

The piece of paper says a fee will be required at Dumont for Prez and Easter; and both days will be a $20 charge. 2005 will have an annual fee of unknown cost.

Tagging on this extra charge has made these two weekends pricey. Lets see: ATV gas, beer, diesel, hot rod parts, beer, firewood, cheezy facilities, and brutally rough dune riding. I know two dates I will be passing on in the future....

oh, and no beer bottles or they will tag you for $50. I saw a lot of cop activity over the weekend that I have never seen in the recent years. At any given time there were a couple of copter rigs at comp hill. Much safer, but to me, it appeared they were trolling for probable cause. No flag on your truck and that gave them probable cause for a rectal exam. I'm sure some innocent folks got harrassed. My buddy got pulled over for no rear running light, but got off with a warning.

Still had fun, but I will be duning during off weekends for quite a while.

Good, no glass bottles should be a requirement at all dunes. IMO. There's just to many who aren't responsible enough to pick up after themselves. I'm sure you're not one of them slowride, just stating in general.

The cops were out in force this weekend for sure. But I'll be back for easter, and all of next year to.

You probably figured it out by now but it's a camping/parking fee, it has nothing to do with the green sticker.

Yea the cops were thick. When I was leaving they were pulling people over on the dirt road for speeding too.
