Fee At Dumont

Hey no Problem Mitch. Yeah the cop were worse than at Glamis that is for sure!!!! They were pulling people over for every little thing, Suday they night they were nailing everyone for having no tail lights! They caught me on the way out and that really pissed me off!!!! I told them that I didn't mind paying the money as long as they we were going to do some improvements around there and not making it **** central! The guy I spoke to said the money is to help improve the road, and I said great! When are they going to pave it? He said laughingly, OH, I doubt they will pave it but we will try and make it nicer. Well let's hope they do because that road sucks!!!!! JMO. Well anyway it was a great time and thanks to Larry and Dave and Al and the gang.

Hey, I was wondering if the green sticker is going to be required for us out of staters even if we have our rides registered at home. We honor out of state reg. requirements here. Does Cali? Fees are going up everywhere. Got to pay for those enviro studies and the law-suits (lawyers). It has gotten crazy. I hope to go back down south next winter for some riding, but they were right about Glamis. Love the riding, dirty dunes (trashed).... And the local sheriffs I will not say anything nice about. For those of you that know me, you will be surprised to hear the bear say that.
Ride safe,
Bear
Come see us at Dune Fest (Winchester Bay First weekend of August 2004).

DSXBEAR if your ATV is registered in your home state just bring proof no need for a Calif Green sticker. The Green sticker money is supposed to go for up keep and improvements of off road riding areas. The BLM and State parks are also charging for camping permits.

I got no beef with paying to play, It seems to keep things a little nicer. I was at Glamis for MLK and Dumont for Pres. day, and if I go next year I hope to see some vast improvements at both facilities. both places lack. considering the fees ($25 at Glamis $20 at Dumont) that were collected at both locations for these 2 weekends, they should have a sizable chunk of change to put some very nice improvements in at both locations. I also see the fees going to help fund the added law enforcement presence that was there. Dumont seemed to have alot more of a LE presence with a zero tolerace attitude. I didn't get stopped but they way the rangers were racing to back other officers who made stops for no flags you would have thought they were rolling to a felony in progress. My wife and I got dusted by 2 on atv doing at least 30 and they passed by us, on our right, less than ten feet away. No warning, just blasted by us as we were heading down past the venders on our way out to Comp. This was sunday morning around 11. they were rolling to back a BLM ranger truck that stopped a motorcycle for no flag. I agree with The Punisher that I don't want the fees going to fund a goon squad that going harass people for no tail lights or flags. The fees should go back to improving the Dunes. I Doubt the road in would ever be paved but they could sure make some improvements to it. And a few more restrooms are surely in order.

Here in OKLA we pay 7 dollars per quad, and 16 dollars per night to camp(electric, and water) $7 dollars for primative camping. No limit on vehicles. if your thier just for the day, they have DAY TIME parking which is free, and if it is full you can park in a "primative" camp site for free aslong as you are not thier over night. I dont mind paying at all , cause the State has added 2 new camp grounds, paved roads, and additional showers and restrooms in the last 3 years. So I can see that my FUN MONEY is going back into the dunes!
Little sahara also makes enough money to keep the other state parks throughout OK open and improved.
bigger.

Bigger, I think that your situation is what we would all like, and wouldn't mind paying for. My family uses Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Utah quite abit. We have no Problem paying for the paved roads, great showers and private sites. We pay $14 per day, and are glad to do it. We don't have hook-ups but there is water about every other site or so. Dumont will do NOTHING for the fee. We WILL get more law-dawgs and we will NEVER see more restrooms. I would rather the money go to near by Baker and have them run something. Water stations, paved roads etc. etc. Right now we get nothing for what we are paying for. I too, like the idea of people being held to a hire standard, but can't help but think that, as a whole, the good people will be the one paying the price in tickets and harassment. Kind of like gun control...
Looks like Armagosa will be our new destination. Not as big, but not as many people either. What a shame.
