Stupid hurts...
This isn't quad related accident, but just the same...
This morning I woke with great anticipation as this was the day to pour my concrete pad...for my new pad! So I was looking at all these low hanging limbs yesterday evening thinking about where the concrete truck would be needing clearance and hauled out the chainsaw this morning for duty.
Got to site, pulled my pickup next to the tree, thru a rope around the saw handle (after a good warm up for easy starting once in the tree), slipped on a pair of gloves and hoisted my **** up into the big Oak. Got the main limbs cut, shut the saw off and lowered it and myself back down to the pickup bed.
Noticing a few other limbs that might be troublesome I comenced to doing something STUPID...using one hand to saw and one to balance! Long story short, when the second limb began to break loose it was sort of sudden and it kicked the saw out and at the same time I let go of the tree with my left...split second later I was standing on the ground thinking that limb nailed me pretty hard on the left hand. Then I noticed the big gaping hole in my glove and before the blood started to pour i also notice a pretty nasty wound where my thumb meets the the hand.
Good news is I didn't have to see a specialist or anything and it only cost me a couple hundred bucks to get sewn up...and the dent in my pickup is barley noticeable! AND my concrete still got poured and finished thanks to friends and familyand yeah I went back out there and did my fair share too...
Just one of those days that takes an abrupt turn...

Glad you are OK Jim, It is easy to do when not fully paying attention... I chopped my left middle finger in half with a chain saw also years ago, It kicked back from the branch and chewed me up... I bet it is a REAL Jagged cut eehh!!! Them chain saws make a mess.. How many stitches? You now might be limited to drag racing..lol

I figured out what caused your brain fart man you didn't mention eating hog jowl and eggs before you started chainsawing. You know how that jowl makes your brain work better! (inside joke)

Stupid hurts...
I was cutting some brush when I was young, Without dad knowing with his cain saw. Well one thing lead to another & I cut thru my boot & sock but no scratch on my tow I got big time lucky. I still can't figure out how I didn't loose a tow or limb. I think maybe someone above had something to do with it, looking down at it & it was still there? I was just LUCKY! Glad that everything is OK with you!
