What Rims does everyone run in the sand?
#1
sorry guys, i know ive been asking a crap load of questions lately....
but im pretty sure im gonna go with Sand stars, just because they are CHEAP and durable (too bad they are so damn heavy..)
but seeing as how i am going with a molded tire, i was thinking i might go with .160 Douglas Black labels....
who in here runs .160's? have you ever bent one?
im 225 lbs, and dont jump too much (jump about 5% of the time spent in the dunes, and nothing huge, only about 3-7 feet high....)
I have only seen one or two people who ran .160s, just wondering if others have, with any kind of luck?
let me know what you guys run, and what you think of em....
oo, also, what are the stock rims? because one thing ive noticed, ONE of my Pure sport Realtors (22x12x10) mounted on .190,s weigh nearly as much as BOTH stock tires and rims combined....
stockers seem to be too light to be steal...
Thanks

ahh thats what i like to hear....
Bus: how did you like the addition of the Ported intake? did you do it yourself, or get it done? (Mr.HP/rwr?)
im thinking of having mr Hp do mine before we leave for little sahara utah for the first time. I see you have other mods, but did you notice where the power increased the most with the intake? (all over powerband, or in one spot?)

Mrhp did the porting. the carb, throttle and intake was done at one time. the first thing I noticed was the power band widened. it pulls steady from idle to max rpm. these mods finished off my clutch in short order. If I was to do it again. I would have at least added heavier clutch springs. My clutch has not been changed yet. so I do not know the full effect yet. it is only slipping in high gears 4th and 5th at high rpms. I am still waiting on new clutch delivery. one thing I like alot is the lower speed and lower rpm that I can clime dunes. I was dead in the water letting the rpm's drop to low with the stock carb when climbing. so, I can't realy say what just porting the intake would feel like. I like the whole set up very well.

thats cool, what did the whole setup cost you? i know porting is 150, and carb is 550....
i still havnt decided if im going to do the carb yet or not... (i will prolly decide once i get back from sahara...)
550 is a big chunk of change for a 17 year old w/o a job...
plus most minimum wage jobs dont buy too many parts like that!

hey bus, i checked out your pics, nice buggy! looks like massive susp. travel.
is that your dodge Dak in the pics?
i have a 96 ram right now, that is only getting me 11 mpg HIGHWAY! and am looking into a new dakota....is yours the v6 or v8? just curious as to what your mileage was... (also if v8, is it 4.7/5.2/or RT 5.9?)
