Default End cap

I posted some pics of my End Cap on my photo page....It should be up in a few hours,,,so they say.
This end cap works great. It has a reverse cone, and a swirl type spark arrestor. It is a little louder than stock, with a much deeper tone. It uses only a 2" outlet. HP was dyno tested by Knutz, along with a bunch of other end caps. This was my best effort, (one made less hp than stock) Seat of the pants it has more low end and more top end. Go ahead, make one. Try it, you will like.

Fourlix, looks like you did a good job with that end cap, but that is a little to involved for me. Sound like people like the HMF slip on, anyone know where I can get a good deal on one. Not that I am rich but I have got more money than time to start tweaking in the garage, I just want a good reliable pipe that makes a little extra HP and that sounds good with out being obnoxious.

I had the HMF with the quiet core. It was louder than stock, with no gains. Without the quiet core it was very loud. The mount just before the muffler broke out a big hole in the side of the pipe. I could repair it, but why bother? It sits in my scrap heap. It is not as good as a stock exhaust with any kind of modded end cap.
I think the FMF is a better way to go. It has more power and less weight, with a decent sound level.

Getting back to the original question, will I see any improvement if I cut off the tapered section of the internal pipes on the end cap, and slightly flair the end of the internal pipes again?

yes you will. thats exactly how I ran mine before I changed carbs. there is a couple of baffles and packing in each one of those little pipes. they pretty much will fall out as soon as you cut the small parts off.

Thanks, that was the answer that I was looking for!!! Like I said earlier, I just want a little more power and a little more sound, and to get them at a reasonable price.

Did you replace the screen or did you just leave it off?
