I was planning on buying a 2001 ds from a guy so yesterday he cleaned the carbs and got it ready to run after sitting all winter.When he started it he said there was a draging sound inside any one have any idea what it could be?

yeah thats what i was thinkin he was only askin 2800 anyways. i was just wonderin if anyones had this problem before

Check the DS650 value post. I think poacher is selling one for 2700.
If it's making weird noises that you can't identify. Then you prolly won't be the one fixing it either. You'll be paying someone else. Labor ain't cheap. Better pass on that one and keep looking.

 

If the rest of the quad looks o.k., and you were thing about a big bore kit, then low-ball him, like under 2G. Otherwise buyer be ware, motor noises=$$$$$$$

 

wer is the noise the top or bottom, if it is the lower end bad news.

 

i would guess top because he said it sounds like a stuck ring

 

What does a stuck ring sound like?
